Training to support digital teaching

The Teacher services team supports teachers in developing their teaching and in their use of digital learning tools. Versatile use of learning environments and tools can help teachers activate students and support their learning. In addition to training and workshops, we offer teachers personal consultation and support.

The goal of Teacher Service's digital pedagogy training is to  

  • Equip teachers with knowledge of available tools, support services, and regulations related to teaching and technology 
  • Support teachers’ competences in the following areas:  
    • Course planning & using digital technology in teaching. 
    • Assessing and giving feedback on learning. 
    • Creating and modifying versatile learning material. 
    • Interacting, activating, motivating and engaging students. 
    • Guiding, instructing and supporting students.  

The MyCourses learning environment provides every course with a workspace that teachers can flexibly adapt to meet their own pedagogical objectives. We provide ample training and support in the use of the learning environment.

We also provide teachers with support, for example, to create educational videos, to make electronic exams, and to help students with scientific writing.

MyCourses digital learning environment

MyCourses is the learning environment for Aalto University courses. With MyCourses, teachers can share course material, resources and other content. A teacher can set up and grade assignments, quizzes and workshops. MyCourses also provides tools for collaboration and interaction with students.

Panopto media service

Panopto is a versatile video platform for recording, editing, streaming, and sharing lectures and presentations.

Turnitin an originality checking and feedback software

Turnitin is a tool to help you not only identify plagiarism, but also teach students good scientific writing practices. Turnitin compares submitted text to a massive database of text, highlights all similar text found and creates a similarity report. Also, an AI report estimating the amount of AI-written text is created.
