There are other construction sites alongside Aalto University's renovation, indoor and outdoor constructions projects on Otaniemi campus:for example City of Espoo and Helsinki Region Environmental Services (HSY) also have their construction sites.
Different sites are completed with according to different schedules, so please consider exceptional routes when moving around the campus.
Roadworks and construction sites
Big changes and improvements are starting along Otakaari after the summer. Street and other municipal technology will be renovated and coordinated with the new town plan. Higher quality pedestrian and cycling routes will be built on Otakaari. The current underpass will be removed and replaced by stairs and a more accessible connection through the site. The roundabout at Servin Maijan tie will be preserved.
We will communicate on the construction work and its more detailed impact on campus later.
A construction project began in February 2025 at Metallimiehenkuja 6-8, which may result in increased noise and heavy traffic in the Otaniemi area. The project, initiated by the property's owner, HGR Property Partners involves the partial demolition of the building. The estimated duration of the construction is until November 2025.
Pedestrians are advised to pay attention to heavy traffic near the construction site.

A student housing project is underway at Otakaari 15, aiming to provide new housing opportunities for students. The construction work will begin in February 2025, and the project is scheduled to be completed by August 2026.
