Management Science kan åsyfta ett brett spektrum av metoder för problemlösning och matematiska modelleringstekniker som hjälper företagsledare att förbättra beslutsfattandet och kreativiteten.
Exempel på dessa tekniker är ekonometri, matematisk optimering, simulering, dataanalys, statistik, och beslutsanalys. De här teknikerna är allmänt tillämpade på områden som finansväsen, riskhantering, ekonomi, strategiskt ledarskap, internationella affärer, logistik och kvalitetshantering.
