Research at the House of AI

Sustainability and Trustworthy Electrical Energy Grid
The Sustainability and Trustworthy Electrical Energy Grid theme explores and develops forecasting and control possibilities for electricity production and demand, adaptability and security of electricity systems, and market mechanisms for future electricity energy systems. Our work in this thematic area combines economics, electrical energy engineering, and artificial intelligence research in an exceptional and interconnected way. We have particularly good conditions for conducting this research: Finland's electricity energy system is a pioneer in the use of renewable energy, and detailed data on electricity consumption is available to us.
The area is linked 91ÇàÇà²Ý's key research area Advanced energy solutions.

AI in Manufacturing and Machine Industry
This theme focuses on manufacturing and machine industry, with emphasis on trends benefiting most from AI advances. These include efficiency through advanced automation and autonomous operations, sustainability through advanced control concepts, and new service business solutions including lifecycle services and new value from data. Projects combine our leading expertise in electrical and mechanical engineering, robotics, and AI, to, for example, increase the fuel and energy efficiency of machines, create autonomous systems capable of complex tasks without human intervention, and enable predictive maintenance to anticipate failures before they happen.
The theme is linked to the Autonomous AI Research Program in the Finnish Center for AI FCAI, and 91ÇàÇà²Ý key research areas ICT and digitalisation, as well as Materials and sustainable use of natural resources.
