This project is an exploration of techniques that can be applied around the process of rolling Suominen’s materials. This intends to demonstrate that the material can be used beyond the state of surface. The result of this experimentation is a series of modules that could be developed in structural properties.

The small percentage of polylactic acid (PLA) contained in the nonwoven melts to the point of creating wood-hard articulations that can be easily drilled, tied, or give then roll power to withstand weight.

Fabric is rolled into a cylinder, which is then sewed. The roll is wrapped in baking paper to protect the material from colour changing in the process. 

It is then positioned between a structure of metallic bars to be squished by a 200°c hot press for 15 minutes.
