Professor Heikki Mannila's 65th birthday symposium

In 2025, Professor Heikki Mannila will mark his 65th birthday and celebrate 40 years since receiving his PhD. To honour these significant milestones, we are hosting a symposium at Dipoli, Otaniemi campus.
The event will feature a scientific programme with several keynote speeches, alongside an informal gathering where attendees can share experiences and anecdotes of working with Heikki.

Our venue Dipoli is the main building of Aalto University, located in the Otaniemi campus. Here you can find information on how to arrive to Otaniemi campus from central Helsinki and the airport.

Dinner's dress code is business casual.
Metro (Aalto-yliopisto, Aalto University)
The journey from Kamppi 91 University in Otaniemi takes 11 minutes.
There are two exits from the Aalto University metro station, Otaniementie and Tietotie. Via Otaniementie, you can access the Main Building Dipoli, Väre, School of Business, the Undergraduate Centre and the Harald Herlin Learning Centre. Via Tietotie, you can easily reach Micronova, the Computer Science Building and the Open Innovation House.
The Metro line's end station in the west is Tapiola or Matinkylä (Espoo), and in the east Vuosaari or Mellunmäki (Helsinki). The Metro runs every 2.5 minutes at Aalto University station during the rush hour, and every 4–5 minutes at other times.
By bus and light rail
Otaniemi is easily accessible by and. The light rail runs every 6 minutes on weekdays, with three stops in Otaniemi: Otaranta, Aalto University metro station, and Maari.
Single metro, light rail, tram or bus tickets can be bought in advance at the ticket machines or from the HSL mobile application. The same ticket is valid on buses and the metro.
Airport connection
- Otaniemi is approximately 22 km away from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport.
- Taxi fare is around 40 euros (travel time about 30 minutes).
- Public transport from the airport takes about an hour: either the train or bus the Helsinki Central Railway station and metro 91 University, the train to Huopalahti and change to light rail line 15.
