Raising a grade in course assessments

Sisu does not refer to the concept of ‘raising a grade’ in those terms. Instead, it refers to three situations where a student receives a better grade than on a previous occasion.

The three situations where a student receives a better grade are as follows:

Increasing a grade through a different implementation of a course

This means the grade rise for a course completion by the student taking a later implementation of the course. The later implementation might be a make-up exam or the equivalent.

Please never raise the grade for the original implementation of the course in these kinds of situations.

If the student’s grade in the assessment of the newer implementation is better than the original grade, it will be increased automatically for the new implementation. In the event of problems, please contact Learning Services (contact details at the bottom of the page).

Improving the grade in the original implementation

If the grade has already been confirmed, you cannot change it yourself. In such cases, contact the Learning Services of your school (contact details at the bottom of the page).

If the grade in a course has not yet been confirmed, you can update it in either of two ways:

  1. directly in the course assessment, or
  2. by importing a new CSV file.

Changing a failing grade in the original course

You can change a failing grade into a passing grade regardless of whether the existing grade in the assessment has been confirmed or not.

Please do not update the grade for the original implementation if the new, passing grade was awarded through a different implementation of the course.

You can change a failing grade into a passing grade in either of the two ways:

  1. directly in the course assessment, or
  2. by importing a new CSV file.
