Sustainability Action Booster

Unlocking Opportunities in Sustainability

This action-oriented experiment is aimed at creating a green career accelerator for youth in Finland, involving the testing of multiple hypotheses and the implementation of interventions. This initiative is a collaboration between Aalto University students and the community at XAMK (University of Applied Sciences), designed to observe how outcomes differ across various environments. Ultimately, the aim is to contribute to community building by enhancing connections among youth, young professionals, and specialists in Finland. The initiative's goals are to improve the engagement of young people in sustainable industries, combat loneliness, and establish more horizontal connections for future interactions.

Millennials and Gen Z seek careers with meaning. This project embraces that. The world needs more passionate people in all industries doing sustainable work. That’s exactly where the Green Career Accelerator steps in.

  1. Opportunities Sharing Platform – The team shares internships, grants, fellowships, and more to make sustainable opportunities visible and accessible: getting remote internships, volunteering abroad or in Finland or doing something crazy like working for UN and living in an eco-villages.
  2. Multimedia Materials and Events – To tackle barriers to entry, the project provides guidance, checklists, webinars, and partners with initiatives like Talent Boost and CV Kliniika to encourage applications and enhance skills.
  3. Community and Connection – An AI-powered networking bot helps facilitate face-to-face meetups, allowing individuals to share experiences and seek mentorship, fostering a supportive community.

The goal is to showcase how any career can turn green, connecting individuals with opportunities to contribute to the SDGs. The project aims to develop green skills, combat loneliness through networking, improve inclusion and transparency, and bolster youth empowerment. Additionally, the team plans to research and refine the approach to see which interventions yield the best result.
