Editing your programme page
Find the right programme by clicking the "Content" button in the top left corner. Here you can find content based on e.g. the title (the name of your programme) or content type (programme). Once you have found your programme, click the "Edit" button on the right, in the same row as the name of your programme. You can also just click the name of your programme and click "Edit" there.
Instructions on the usage of components
"Reusable content" component is the so-called "bank text". See the instructions below.
Components: how to create content for aalto.fi?
Get to know the aalto.fi components for creating versatility and visuality when delivering your content.
How to use and create reusable content
Here we describe how to create content using the content type Reusable content and how to add that to your page as a component. The use of this content type is restricted only to specific editors in the learning services.
Publish and translate your programme
Click "Save" (the blue button at the bottom). This will save your programme as unpublished. Unpublished content is not visible to users of the site.
If you want to publish your programme, tick the "Publish" box at the bottom (in edit view) and then click "Save". This action will publish all content you've created here, i.e. the programme main page and all tabs and subpages (even those not included in the programme's navigation).
To translate your programme, click the "Translate" tab at the top of the page; the tab is visibly only on the main page. When you add a translation (e.g. English and "Add"), will also add translations of all tabs and subpages that belong to your programme so make sure to edit them as well (i.e. /en/ version of content you've created, this action will not automatically translate a language into another language, you need to translate all texts).
Editing tabs
Click 鈥淓dit鈥 on any page included in your programme. This will always open the edit view starting on the beginning of the main page.
Once you find the tab you need to edit, click "Edit" on it. Make the edits, and click "Update", e.g. 鈥漊pdate During your studies tab鈥. This will collapse the edit view for that tab.
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to save your edits.
Adding subpages not visible in the programme鈥檚 navigation
If you need to add information that only applies to your programme and cannot fit into any of the existing tabs, add another tab to the section (i.e. "Curricula", "During your studies") and select 鈥淒o not show this on the tabs鈥 while editing the new tab. Pages with this selection will not appear in the programme鈥檚 navigation. You can lift them up just like any content using liftup components. You can use liftup components (Single or Manual liftup) for this. If you need to add another page for previous curricula as a hidden tab, don't select anything in the Curriculum period drop-down.
You can then make a link to these hidden tabs by creating a lift up to a suitable page. Add the component to a suitable page, click 鈥漇elect content鈥 and find the content you want to lift up. You can filter the content listed here by selecting the content type "Programme subpage".
The hidden tabs enable the URL addresses for your programme鈥檚 content to remain unified, and the programme navigation will be visible on these pages, even though the hidden tabs aren鈥檛 visible in the navigation.
Tabs and subpages don鈥檛 have a main image, so when you lift them up, you need to take that into consideration and use the most suitable display mode (e.g. Single liftup in small does not show the main image).
Creating a new programme page
If your programme doesn't have a page yet
If you need to create a new programme page, contact your school's Drupal main editor and Heli Heinola first.
Log in to aalto.fi by clicking the Log in button in the top right corner.
Use a programme page template (provided by LES) and fill in the information it contains. Note that the template contains the structure of the programme pages, i.e. the navigation or parts of it, and some contents. You still need to edit the contents in accordance with your programme.
You can also use a finished bachelor, master, or doctor programme page as a template.
Click "Clone" in the grey editing panel at the top of the programme page you wish to copy. This will copy the programme pages as a template for your programme. Do not click "Edit" on the page your copying! The copied version has the text "Clone of xyz" in the title. If the template you're using is translated, note that those too will be copied, and you need to edit them as well.
Now that you have your own programme page copied (鈥滳lone of xyz鈥), click "Edit" and start editing your programme.
Title*: The title for programmes is always the official name of the programme, e.g. Master鈥檚 Programme in Engineering Physics.
Programme description*: In Finnish - Ohjelmasivu opiskelijoille; In English - Programme page for students; In Swedish - Programsida f枚r studenter. Does not appear on the programme page, but everywhere your programme is lifted up.
Lead text*: Lead text is the introduction on your programme's main page. Think about good key words, i.e. possible search terms students might use when searching for your programme, and use some of them here. Don't copy to the lead text the exact same text as you have in the summary. This will have a negative impact on search engine optimisation and thus to the findability of your content. Lead text should not be longer than 1-4 sentences or a short paragraph.
In Finnish:

Sivuilta l枚ytyy ohjelman opetussuunnitelma ja tarkempia ohjeita omien opintojen suunnitteluun. Jos olet kiinnostunut hakemaan ohjelmaan, seuraa sivun alaosan linkki盲 hakusivuille.
In Swedish:

In English:
This site contains the student study guide for the xx programme. Here you will find the programme curriculum as well as detailed guidelines for planning your studies. All the materials and instructions are for [the students in / all the majors of] the programme. If you are interested in applying to the programme, follow the link on the bottom of the site to the application page.
Organized by: Select the organizing school / joint programme. This selection is not visible on the programme page. It鈥檚 one of the filters in the Programmes hub, and will help students to find their programme.
Degree level*: Select the correct level of the programme. This selection is not visible on the programme page. It鈥檚 one of the filters in the Programmes hub. This is metadata of your programme and will help students to find their programme.
Major / track: Add all majors and/or tracks of your programme. Start typing to see suggestions. Click to select. If you have more than one, add a comma (,) in between. This selection is not visible on the programme page; it's metadata that will help students to find their programme based on their major/track. If you can鈥檛 find a major/track, you can add it. Add a comma and type in the official name. It will thus be added to the list in Drupal. Make sure there are no typos.
Main image*: Three image options;for doctoral programmes (tohtoriohjelma-p盲盲kuva), for master's programmes (maisteriohjelma-p盲盲kuva) and bachelor's programmes (kandiohjelma-p盲盲kuva). The main image is always hidden, and will not appear on your programme page, but will show anywhere your programme is being lifted up.
Additional tabs (navigation) can be added after you鈥檝e edited the main page.
The titles of the tabs are fixed, so you can鈥檛 edit them (e.g. During your studies). If there are subpages under your tabs in the template you鈥檙e using, you are not allowed to edit their titles. The templates may differ for each degree level.
To add a new subpage under the Curricula tab, click 鈥淎dd new Curriculum tab鈥.
- Give your subpage a title.
- Select the correct Curriculum period in the drop-down menu if needed.
- Create the content using components (鈥淎dd component鈥).
- Once your subpage is finished, click 鈥淐reate curriculum tab鈥.
If you want to add more subpages to your Curricula tab, again click 鈥淎dd new Curriculum tab鈥. You can also use other subpages as a template by clicking "Duplicate" on the subpage you want to copy. You can remove and edit subpages using those buttons on each subpage.
If you're creating a subpage for curriculum information, the Curriculum period selected will appear in the Programme hub鈥檚 filter.
"Previous curricula" tab should contain all other curricula (i.e. other than the years mentioned in the drop-down menu). You will only create this one tab for the previous curricula, so please use this selection in the Curriculum period drop-down only once. If you wish to create pages for older curricula on the "Previous curricula" tab, please see the instructions below under "Older curricula and other subpages not visible in the programme鈥檚 navigation". These can be lifted up on the "Previous curricula" tab using liftups.
Create all subpages needed as described above. You can create at most five subpages (visible in the navigation) for each tab. If there are subpages in the template, you may not remove them or change their titles.
Note that you can鈥檛 add subpages to the Contact or Graduation tab or to the main page.
If you're using a template, some components may have already been added there. Note that you may need to change their contents to fit your programme.
You can use many components for the page:
- Add the text paragraph component to write the actual contents of your programme.
- Use other components as needed.
