The career monitoring survey is conducted as part of the national academic career monitoring coordinated by the Aarresaari network, which consists of 13 Finnish universities' employment and career services. The survey is conducted using a standardized questionnaire simultaneously for those who graduated five years ago. The results presented on this page are based on the data obtained from the survey conducted in 2024 and targeted to graduates in 2019.

Graduates from the School of Science value their degree and feel that their employers appreciate their qualifications. Of the respondents graduated in 2019, 91% were satisfied with their degree in relation to their own career, 94% felt that their employers value their degree, and 96% would recommend the degree to others.
The employment situation for those who graduated from the School of Science in 2019 is very good according to the results of the career monitoring survey. 96% of the respondents were either employed or self-employed. Five years after graduation, respondents’ median salary is 5400 euros per month.
The largest companies and organizations (with over 250 employees) employ the most professionals graduated from the School of Science. Of the respondents, 52% work in large companies, 27% in small or medium-sized enterprises, 9% in universities, and 6% are self-employed, 2% work for state and 1 % in municipalities or joint municipal authorities.
Respondents named companies and organizations such as Aalto University, Accenture, CGI, Elisa, Fortum, Futurice, Hiab, IQM, Netlight, Nitor, Nokia, RELEX Solutions, University of Helsinki, WithSecure and Wolt as their current employers. Examples of the most common job titles include AI Developer, Analytics consultant, Bioinformatician, Data Scientist, Doctoral researcher, Information security consultant, Information systems specialist, Investment Manager, IT Manager, Product Manager, Software Engineer, Service Designer, and Strategy manager.
The skills considered most important in their current jobs by the respondents include problem-solving skills, analytical and systematic thinking skills, ability to learn and adopt new things, information retrieval skills, and communication in English.
