Student representative of the doctoral program

The members of the Doctoral Program Committee (DPC) of Aalto Doctoral program in Business, Economics, and Finance include one student representative and a deputy representative. The student representatives are appointed by The Council of Academic Affairs of the School of Business based on a proposal by Aalto University Student Union (AYY). The role of the student representative is to participate in the decision-making of the DPC and to serve as an information intermediary between the students, Heads of Doctoral Studies, and the DPC of the Doctoral Program in Business Economics and Finance.

Core responsibilities of the student representative of Doctoral Program Committee at the School of Business 

  • Soliciting and sharing informal feedback from doctoral students and doctoral researchers for program development.
  • Identifying and voicing pressing student concerns and challenges related to their work and wellbeing to Heads of Doctoral Studies, DPC, and the Director of the doctoral program.
  • Generating ideas for and contributing to the planning and implementation of early career professional development initiatives, workshops and events that enhance the employability of the graduates of the Aalto BIZ doctoral program.
  • Actively liaising with Aallonhuiput—the Aalto University doctoral student association—to facilitate a close working relationship between the Aalto BIZ doctoral program and its students.

The Doctoral Program Committee of Aalto School of Business

The Doctoral program committee of the School decides about developing the content of the doctoral program, prepares the curriculum and admission criteria and makes various decisions related to the evaluation process of the doctoral theses of individual students, among other things.
