Short bio: Doctoral degree from Aalto (2013), postdoc at Northwestern (2013-2014) and Harvard (2014-2016). Tenure track professor at Aalto (2016-), Academy of Finland Research Fellow (2019-2023), Vice-head of the department (2020-) and Deputy director of the Center of Excellence in Life-Inspired Hybrid Materials LIBER (2022-). Recipient of ERC StG (2019-2024). Leader of the Active Matter group. Interested in everything where physics meets chemistry and biology. Big fan of advanced optical microscopy and constructing unique imaging systems. Always interested to discuss new ideas with students and early career researchers. Selected examples of completed and on-going research projects below (many done together with amazing collaborators):
Magnetic liquids (ferrofluids)
Electrohydrodynamics
Living matter
Proteins, liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) and aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS)
Liquid droplets, capillary phenomena and fluid dynamics
