Edris Pouresmaeil is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation at Aalto University, Finland, where he leads the Renewable Energies for Power Systems research group. He has held positions at several institutions worldwide, including Senior Researcher at ESTIA Institute of Technology, Bidart, France; Senior Researcher at Abengoa Research, Sevilla, Spain; Associate Professor in Energy Technology Engineering at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Odense, Denmark; Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Waterloo (UW), Waterloo, Canada; and PhD Research Fellow at the Center of Technological Innovation in Static Converters and Drives (CITCEA) at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC-BarcelonaTech), Barcelona, Spain.

His research focuses on power electronics for power systems, the integration of renewable energy sources into power grids, microgrid control and operation, and hybrid energy storage systems using green hydrogen and batteries. Dr. Pouresmaeil is a Senior Member of the IEEE and serves as an Associate Editor for several journals such as the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society, IEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics, and IET Generation, Transmission & Distribution.
