Two films from Aalto University students were awarded at this year's Tampere Film Festival. Rose Garden (Ruusukoto), directed by Hannu-Pekka Peltomaa, was awarded the Diploma of Merit in the National Competition and the Uusi Kino prize, an audience award. It is an "inventive and original take on modern elderly care", according to the festival organizers.

Prime Time Rage (Puoli Yhdeksän Raivo) directed by Sanni Priha, was recognized with the Student Award.

The Tampere Film Festival is ranked amongst the top three most important short film festivals in the world. The heart of the programme are the International and National Short Film Competitions. The festival receives approximately 4,000 submissions annually.
