Success for ELO at Tampere Film Festival!

Success and awards to the students, alumni and staff members of the Department of Film, Television, and Scenography at the Tampere Film Festival 4.-8- March 2020

Students, alumni and staff members of the Department of Film, Television, and Scenography were awarded during the Tampere Film Festival March 4th to 8th.

Tampere Film Festival brings together over 30,000 film enthusiasts, be it professionals or amateurs, in March every year. Tampere Film Festival is ranked among the top three most important short film festivals in the world.

Both ELO films in the competitions at the Tampere Film Festival were awarded yesterday 8th of March 2020 at the festival award ceremony.

Student Award (Best student film) was given to Kotimatka (Homebound, 2019) by Marika Harjusaari.

Golden Shade Equipment Rental Prize went to cinematographer Theofanis Kavvadas of the film 49 Years from the House on the Left (2019) by Sevgi Eker.

Other prizes to our students, alumni and staff were:

The Main Prize in the Over 30 Minutes films went to Anna-Karin Grönroos’, MA student in documentary film, Orkesterin edessä (Conductivity, Finland 2019).

Feature-length documentary Silmästä silmään (Eye to Eye, Finland 2020) by John Webster won the Audience Award of the National Competition. The sound design of the film was done by our professor Pietari Koskinen.

Elina Talvensaari’s documentary film Neiti aika (Lady Time, Finland 2019) was awarded the Church Media Foundation Prize and the Special Prize at the category of films over 30 minutes. (ELO alumna: director Elina Talvensaari, cinematographer Joona Pulkkanen, editor Okku Nuutilainen)

Special Mention of the International Competition was given to All Inclusive by Teemu Nikki (Finland 2019) at the Fiction Category. Cinematographer of the film is Jarmo Kiuru, ELO alumnus.

Special Mention was also given to Keppi, directed by Teppo Airaksinen with cinematographer Aarne Tapola.
