For a 72-hour period, Aalto Ventures Program students worked with students at Philadelphia University to solve global problems related to ageing. Approximately 30 student groups created ideas for services and products at the Nexus Maximus event.

Industrial engineering student Mikko Rajala was satisfied with working in an international group. 'The cooperation between Philadelphia University and Aalto University produced a truly global perspective. I believe that this gave us a better understanding of the problem.'

The groups worked from early morning until late evening, producing prototypes and conducting simulations. They documented the processes in blogs and presented the final results to investors.

From Philadelphia, the Aalto Ventures Program Minor students continued on to Pace University in New York. In New York, the group addressed current issues in customer service as part of the AVP Urban Challenge 2014 project. Among other things, the students examined factors affecting the appeal of the Lower Manhattan district.

The U.S. Ambassador to Finland Bruce Oreck accompanied the students on the New York leg of their trip.
