Student Julian Wesch recommends his programme for those who want to build a global network

EIT Manufacturing Master’s programme is a second double degree programme for German Julian Wesch, who completed his Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering in Germany and Mexico. Before his studies at Aalto University, he studied for one year at the University College Dublin, Ireland for his Master’s.

How did you find out about the program? What made you choose it?
I found out about the EIT Manufacturing Master School through online research. Focus areas of a Master’s program for me were international exposure, practical experience with an internship and innovation & entrepreneurship. EIT Manufacturing offers access to leading universities while combining my preferences for my Master's, so it was an easy choice.

Describe your experience with the application process. Any tips for future applicants?
The overall application process was comparable to other Master's programs in Europe. So, no difficulties to expect and I can highly recommend applying!

What kind of other international experience did you have before?
Before joining the EIT Manufacturing program, I spent half a year in New Zealand working on various projects focused on youth engagement. In 2019, I had the opportunity to study for two semesters at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico as part of a Double degree program. Both experiences inspired me to pursue an international Master's degree with EIT Manufacturing.

What have you liked the most about this program so far?
What I liked the most about the EIT program, is the friendships created through the journey, this is what makes the program so special. The experiences of the past semesters have truly been some of the most exciting memories I could have wished for. So, besides the university offerings, courses, travels, exams, learnings and internships, I'd say the program has connected me to so many people that I hope to stay in touch with for way longer than the Master's itself.

What are you looking forward to?
After the completion of my industrial master's thesis in the area of electric vehicles, I am looking forward to working in the automotive space.

For whom would you recommend this?
I'd recommend the EIT Manufacturing program to anyone looking to advance their career while building a global network, gaining work experience in the EU, making countless memories, creating an innovative solution, travelling to more than five countries and becoming a leading expert in the manufacturing space. If all of those things excite you, go for it!
