Strategy preparation process in the final stage

The preparatory work, which began in 2018, is nearing completion, with the new living strategy being discussed by the Board next week.
Preparing the new strategy has been a major effort for the entire Aalto community.
Last year, we prepared for strategy work through evaluations and analyzes and gathering background materials. The most significant of these was the Research, Art and Impact (RAI) evaluation. On the basis of the community feedback and proposals, we also compiled 14 strategic questions, which we have considered together this year.
Aalto community members have participated in strategy work at community events and workshops at departments, and through discussions on the strategy portal. We have also received feedback from stakeholders.
On this basis, we have a compiled a strategy, which gives direction to the long-term activities of the university (our purpose, values and way of working) and highlights the key areas for future development. Strategy implementation planning and university and departmental long-term planning will be done on this basis next spring, and the new strategy will come into effect on 1 January 2021. In our living strategy, we regularly review our choices and adjust them when needed.
The Board will discuss the strategy at its meeting on 26–27 November, after which the feedback of the Board will be reviewed.
