Sponsored lecture halls provide companies and communities with daily visibility on campus

A sponsored lecture hall is, above all, a way for companies and organisations to support students and education in the field of business by contributing towards the quality and comfort of teaching facilities. At the same time, a sponsored lecture hall is a visible way to establish the employer image of a company among students.
There are 11 sponsored lecture halls in total on the premises of the School of Business at the Aalto University Undergraduate Centre. Each of them represents the sponsor in its own, unique manner. The lecture halls are named after the sponsors, and this name is commonly used when referring to the hall. As part of the agreement, the sponsor can use the lecture hall for its own purposes free of charge twice a year.
‘Some of our partners have also modified the lecture halls and made the teaching facilities follow their aesthetics, for instance, by incorporating their own brand elements. This has resulted in increasingly interactive facilities that support modern learning,’ says Anne Johansson from the External Relations unit at the School of Business.
Lecture halls remain popular among students year after year
One section of the annual student satisfaction survey conducted at the School of Business examines students' opinions on different forms of cooperation with companies on campus. Sponsored lecture halls remain one of the most popular forms of cooperation year after year, as they are easy to remember and their appearance is well liked.
‘As the lecture halls are named after their sponsors and they differ from other teaching facilities in appearance, students can easily remember these facilities. They will gradually become part of the students' everyday life on campus,’ tells Anne Johansson.
The partner companies of the School of Business also actively use their sponsored lecture halls for their own purposes, such as for organising various kinds of events for students and their own staff.
