Siavash Khajavi appointed as Assistant Professor in Operations Management

Siavash Khajavi's research focuses on topics related to the digital transformation of production operations, with a particular emphasis on technologies such as 3D printing, digital twins, and blockchain. He maintains a strong interest in promising emerging technologies and has been actively collaborating with various departments and schools within Aalto University, including the departments of mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and electrical engineering. Recently, he co-founded a company dedicated to revolutionizing fire detection systems in both industrial and agricultural settings by leveraging the latest advancements in the field of computer vision and machine learning. Originally from Iran, he embarked on his journey to Finland in 2011 to pursue a master鈥檚 degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, followed by a doctoral degree which he completed in 2018.
鈥淚 am delighted to have the opportunity to continue my career as a professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Aalto University, known for nurturing individuals who have become influential change-makers in their respective roles. Acknowledging the constant nature of change in our world, my research on the digital transformation of operations management facilitates a deeper understanding of the impact of digitalization and contributes to refining management approaches for achieving positive outcomes,鈥 Siavash notes.
The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management contributes to research and education through academic excellence and as a producer and co-producer of three educational programs: Industrial Engineering and Management, Information Networks, and Aalto Ventures Program.
