Pattern Lab 20 designers present new collection in Heimtextil Messe Frankfurt 7–10 January

Pattern Lab is a professional level surface design project by master’s students at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Finland. Pattern Lab has an impressive history of more than twenty years of selling successful designs to Scandinavian and international markets. A number of today’s top textile designers in Finland are Pattern Lab alumni. For the past years, Aalto has been ranked among the TOP5 fashion schools in the world (BOF).
Pattern Lab is all about original artwork, surface design and young vision in trend forecasting. The project has long roots but fresh faces every year. Like in the past, this year’s group is international and multidisciplinary: the eleven participants have backgrounds in textiles, fashion, graphic design, visual
arts and product design. Every designer works with his or her own style, but under common themes. This results in three varied, yet cohesive collections of around 300 different surface designs for a myriad of uses. Designs are made both by hand and digitally, exploring and combining different techniques. The collections consist of print patterns, digital prints, material collages and other 3D-surfaces of professional quality, all in repeat and provided with digital files with layers.
The project is supervised by creative director and professor Maarit Salolainen, who is also one of the key people behind the entire project.
If you are in Frankfurt, please visit the Pattern Lab stand at Hall 3.0 Stand F36 to take
a closer look at the unique creations! At you can have a sneak peek of three different collections.
