Antti Peltokorpi appointed Professor of Operations Management in Construction in Aalto University

His field of expertise as an assistant professor will be in operations management in construction.

Antti Peltokorpi (born 1980) D.Sc. (Tech.), has been appointed Assistant Professor at the Aalto University School of Engineering, Department of Civil and Structural Engineering from 1 February 2015 to 31 January 2019. His field of expertise as an assistant professor will be in operations management in construction.

Peltokorpi has worked as the director of the BIT Research Centre of the Aalto University Department of Industrial Engineering and Management since 2013. From 2012 to 2013, he worked as the research director of the HEMA Institute where he managed the portfolios of national and international research projects on health care services. His role included the planning of new research projects and the strategic management of research work.

Peltokorpi is specialised in research on service innovations, production strategies of services and executive functions.  His special competencies include, among others, measuring and developing the productivity of processes, business models based on customer value, and business networks and supply chains enabled by the built environment. He is most familiar with quantitative methods of analysis, modelling and case studies as research methods.

Peltokorpi has been an appointed speaker in many international conferences on leadership and has authored several academic articles and publications.

In addition to his research work, he has also acted as an expert in numerous projects for developing service processes and business premises in municipalities, hospital districts and companies.

Antti Peltokorpi graduated as Master of Science (Technology) from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Helsinki University of Technology in 2005 and earned the degree of Doctor of Science (Technology) in 2010. His doctoral thesis, Improving efficiency in surgical services: a process planning and control approach, dealt with the strategic and operative management of surgical practice and its impact on productivity.
