Academy of Finland grants EUR 13.6 million to support profiling
The Academy of Finland has granted Aalto University EUR 13.6 million in funding in a call to strengthen the universities’ research profiles. This funding opportunity is new and supports Finnish universities in profiling themselves into distinct areas of strength. The call opened in January and the decision was published today.
Aalto University applied for funding for four key research areas: ICT and digitalization, materials and sustainable use of natural resources, global business dynamics, and art and design knowledge building. The funding will be used to cover the costs of newly recruited professors to these four key areas.
- We are very pleased with the funding decision. The funding will allow us to continue with the reform work outlined in our strategy, stated Tuula Teeri, President of Aalto University.
The Academy of Finland granted a total of EUR 50 million in funding. The academy made its funding decisions on the basis of assessments by an international panel.
