1 331 new students accepted for master's studies

We received applications from 111 countries.

The application period for Aalto University’s master’s programmes ended on 4 January, and the admission results were published on 22 March 2021. Altogether 1 331 new students were selected. 

30% of the applicants had a Finnish degree and 58% applied with a degree completed outside of EU/EEA countries. As previously, the greatest numbers of applicants with foreign degrees were from China, India, Pakistan, United Kingdom, and Iran. Applications were received from altogether 111 different countries. 

In the field of business and economics, the most popular study options were Yritysjuridiikka (Business law, available only in Finnish) and Management and International Business. In the field of art and design, the most popular study options were Collaborative and Industrial Design and Creative Sustainability. In the field of science and technology, the most popular study options were Machine Learning, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science. 

The number does not include the incoming class of incumbent students pursuing their study right from their undergraduate degrees.

Learning new things continues after graduation

Aalto graduates’ transition to working life and their experience of studies and careers are monitored annually through a career monitoring survey. The responses to the survey provide important information about the work life of graduates, both for current students and for young people considering their future studies. In addition, the information collected is used to develop Aalto University’s teaching and services.
