I believe that forestry will save the Finnish economy. With new innovations, the range of products that can be processed from wood will keep expanding.

Oona Anttila
I have chosen the multidisciplinary Creative Sustainability studies as the major subject in my master's studies. It's nice that, in addition to us, students of design, architecture and engineering also take part in those courses.

Tuomas Puhakka
For the last six years I have played floorball in the Westend Indians, whose home is the sports hall in Otaniemi. After I began to study at the School of Business, I have begun to contemplate how we could involve the student community in our activities more.

Veronika Durbáková
It’s hard to get a rent flat here in Helsinki area. I’m happy I talked about this to the student union AYY: with their help I got an apartment.

Henri Merilä
There really are a lot of different clubs related to hobbies in Otaniemi. For example, we have a very nice group of skiers called Skipoli. These things are a good counterbalance to the actual studying.

Antti Pitkänen
It's great when something you have done earlier bears fruit later. I led the Design ROI project that was completed in 2012, and three years later, I was delighted to get an invitation from the German Ministry of Finance to come and tell them about our research.

Katrin Bergold
I have really enjoyed the individual studying areas here at Aalto University. I think good interior design has helped to change the way people are learning here in Otaniemi.

Tarmo Kivioja
I haven't studied at Aalto University for very long yet. It is really nice to find so many people, who become enthusiastic about the same things as I do.

For companies
The School of Chemical Engineering carries out comprehensive and versatile co-operation with industry. The School’s most significant entrepreneurial partners are, for instance, Neste, UPM, Stora Enso, Valio, Fortum, Metsä Group, Outotec, Andritz and Kemira.

Silla Virmajoki
The topic of the group assignment on our course was gender. Our impression of Otaniemi is that it is rather male-dominated, so we made new street signs for a few streets in Otaniemi in which we make humorous comments about the situation.

Niko Kakko ja Mikko Mattila
We came up with the idea to sell hot dogs made from high-quality ingredients directly from a kitchen built on a delivery bicycle on one Restaurant Day. We decided to expand our operation, and now our restaurant moves easily around the Helsinki region.

Ariel Bustamante
We built this sculpture as a conversation room. The project is about inviting people to talk with us about Why Do We Do the Things We Do.

Oriol Ala Puig
Last summer, some friends and I decided to create a start-up company. You just learn so much only by doing!

Pyry Taanila
Quite a unique concentration has grown around Design Factory and Startup Sauna. This is where the Catchbox microphone was born. Our work has been supported here, and we have benefited from this place in many ways, so it felt right to also set up our office here.

Working life courses
The goal of the working life courses-based bachelor programme is to develop various working life skills for students. Working life courses also benefit business enterprises in many ways.

Mareike Rohrdrommel
I think that the study plans are better here in Finland than back in Germany. Here they let you be an individual. Here in Aalto University I feel I can consider myself a person.

Julian Ilinca
Music is an important part of who I am. It has been great to notice that you can find practice places and people to play with through different clubs while studying in Otaniemi.

CHEM Career Forum
