Antivirus product will be changed on Windows IT classrooms’ computers starting on Monday, 14 February 2022. Microsoft Defender for Endpoint will replace Sophos Antivirus.

Researchers at Aalto University are creating an educational package on cybersecurity, which will be shared with all EU countries. Finland has been awarded EUR 5 million for this project from the EU recovery instrument for a three-year period.

Aalto University participates in Finland's largest digital security exercise on Thursday, 25 November 2021. Information security and data protection learning area for Aalto Univeristy employees has been published on Workday Learning. The training covers the basics of information security and privacy, data processing and the identification of incidents.
IMAP and submission protocols will be closed 8 November
The use of IMAP and submission protocols will end on Monday, 8 November in Aalto university’s centralized email service. This improves information security, e.g. brute force attempts which block user accounts temporarily, will fail after the change.

The transition to cloud mail has progressed well. The mailboxes of Aalto's staff and degree students (in excess of 26,000 accounts) have been moved to the cloud.
Large number of Aalto IDs locked due to a denial of service attack
The bug is being fixed, and it seems  that the lockout would have ended at 4pm. Locked IDs open automatically after 15 minutes.
Print services at Aalto back online
Secureprint and printing directly to Canon devices are back online. Printing to legacy devices via printvm-legacy2 print server is back in use.
