Kirsti Taiviola is a Lecturer in Glass at the Department of Design, where she is responsible for glass-related courses at both BA and MA levels. In addition to teaching, Taiviola works as a visual artist, focusing on the interplay of glass, light, and space. Her artistic practice explores themes such as materiality, time, and authorship, with a strong appreciation for the craftsmanship inherent in glassmaking. For her, glass is above all a medium through which to examine optics and the sensory experience of light and color. She frequently employs handmade, free-form glass lenses to create light projections that transform space and perception.
