The coronavirus situation affects many of our applicants and their ability to submit the required application documents e.g. SAT test results and school certificates. Nevertheless, Aalto University follows the deadlines determined in its student selection criteria. Unfortunately, it is not possible to extend the deadlines for submitting the SAT tests within the national framework for student selections.

At the moment there are no planned changes in how the entrance exams will be organised. They will be held in the Spring/Summer 2021 as planned.

At Aalto University, entrance examinations in the fields of business and economics and science and technology will be organised in Otaniemi. In the field of art and design, however, most of the entrance examinations will be conducted online. All entrance examinations will be organised with strict safety arrangements. Applicants will receive further instructions via Studyinfo.

The residence permit process cannot be influenced by the university, so students need to follow the information given from the Finnish Immigration Authority, Migri: .

Students should be adequately funded for the whole duration of their studies without reliance on part-time work or additional scholarships.

Any additional tuition fee waiver scholarships are not offered by Aalto University.

Aalto is not offering discounts on tuition fees but is working on a number of different adjustments in order to guarantee the standard progress and academic quality of studies during the coronavirus outbreak.

For academic year 2020-2021, you can enrol as non-attending also in case you are unable to get to Finland to start your studies due to official COVID-19 related restrictions on immigration, travel or other processes required to enter Finland. Note however, that if you enrol as non-attending, it is not possible to complete any studies even by participating in remote teaching.

Please also note that personal choice not to start your studies, illness of a relative or otherwise difficult life situation caused by COVID-19 are not valid reasons for non-attendance.

If you have already enrolled as an attending student, but wish to change your enrolment status to non-attending, you may change your enrolment status until the end of the official enrolment period (no later than 4 September 2020).
