Aalto Behavioral Laboratory
Aalto Behavioural Laboratory (ABL) has various different monitoring and stimulus systems for behavioural studies in controlled environments. In ABL, you can measure among other things with EEG, EMG, ECG, GSR, Accelerometers, Thermal camera and Eye Trackers. There are also stimuli system for each room, which can produce visual, virtual reality, audio and thermal stimuli.
Magnet House
There are three different measurement rooms (AC, DC and DAVE) in the Magnet House. In the fourth floor, there are two measurement rooms: a shielded room (DC) which is especially intended for EEG and remote eye tracking measurements; and a room for behavioural measurements (AC) which doesn’t require shielded conditions. In the third floor locates Dynamic Audio Visual Environment (DAVE).
Marsio Building
In the Marsio, there are two additional measurement rooms (Laurel and Hardy) for ABL. The bigger room (Hardy) with 25 square meters, is dedicated for multi-person measurements, enabling 6+ persons in the measurement room simultaneously. Other, smaller light-shielded room (Laurel), is mainly for single person measurements, especially intended for EEG and remote eye tracking studies.
MAGICS devices
Several devices related to human behavioral measurement, are loanable in the ABL from . The equipment include mobile EEG, head mounted eye trackers, thermal camera, remote EMG/ECG sensors and VR headset. The devices are locating in both Magnet House and Marsio.

DAVE
Dynamic Audio Visual Environment (DAVE) is one of the three bookable rooms of ABL. The DAVE locates in the 3rd floor of Magnet House.
Virtual Tour of Aalto Behavioral Laboratory. Tour consists of several 360-images of the laboratory, including detailed information about the lab facilities.

Reservation calendar
All the ANI laboratories and some of the equipment must be reserved before use. Reservations are made for individual research permissions. After your permission is accepted, you will get username and password for the reservation system.
Starting Measurements
- User training courses. Participate in ABL's user training courses. The courses contain user training for different measurement systems. Courses are not mandatory, but recommended for users new to equipment used in ABL. For information about the courses and schedules please contact personnel.
- Ethics approval. All studies aiming to publication and involving human subjects must acquire a supporting statement from appropriate ethics committee, e.g. from (available only from Aalto network), Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (in Finnish) or .
- Research Permission.The scientific director or research engineer accepts the research permission, which includes among others signature by the principal investigator, the names of people who are allowed to make reservations with this research permission, and the number of hours, which are also denoted in the financial obligation by the user. Research permission and other related forms can be found below from "Documents and Forms".
- Reservation. Laboratory measurement time slots can be reserved at Username and password for the system are given after the research permission is approved.
- Measurement checklist. Check the ABL Checklist document before your first measurement.
