Learning outcomes

At course completion, you will: 

- be able to talk about your education and work history and other past events
- be able to give opinions and operate more smoothly in everyday conversations 
- be able to find the main information you need on course topics 
- understand be able to write somewhat longer texts

- Expanding basic vocabulary (e.g. housing, the outdoors, schooling, work) 
- Expanding knowledge of grammar: the object form, forms for referring to the past) 
- Practicing everyday conversational situations

Terhi Tapaninen ja Kristiina Kuparinen: Oma Suomi 1 (Chapters 10-13) (2022 edition, ISBN : 978-951-1-44826-6) and extra material provided by the teacher. Please notice that the book is compulsory for completing the course.

Evaluation

The course requires regular attendance, active participation in class and completion of homework assignments. 
The weight given to the various assignments in the final grade is specified at the start of the course.

Teaching time and location

1.9.-5.11.2025, no teaching 29.9.-5.10.2025. Teaching hours will be held online in Zoom on Mondays and Wednesdays at 17.00-18.30. Teaching hours are not recorded. Students are expected to be present at the lectures.

Exams

Written and oral examination. The written examinations will be held as a remote examination in MyCourses. Oral examination time will be given by the teacher. The teacher will give further information on examinations.

The written examination will be held on 12.11.2025. No registration is required.
Re-examination will be held on 8.12.2025. Please, register in Sisu on 1.12.2025 at the latest. 

The teacher has four (4) weeks to grade the exam submissions starting from the exam date.
